More than half of Americans say they 'definitely will vote' in midterms: Poll

More than half of Americans say they “definitely will vote” in November’s midterms, according to a new survey.

In the Economist/YouGov poll, released this week, 57 percent of respondents said they “definitely will vote” in the upcoming elections. Eleven percent said they “probably will vote,” another 11 percent said they “may or may not vote,” 7 percent said they “probably won’t vote” and 14 percent said they “definitely won’t vote.”

When it comes to inspiration, 55 percent of respondents said they were “very” motivated to cast a ballot while another 15 percent said they were only “somewhat” motivated. Around 30 percent said they were either “not very” motivated to vote or not at all motivated, according to the poll.

Democrats are looking to recapture the House and Senate after the midterms, following a long string of losses in the 2024 election. The party, however, has been bogged down in debate over its messaging.
