because Dear Leader told them to vote for him, while a whole lot of other people just didn't vote at all - either because they didn't like Paxton or Cornyn or they didn't care one way or the other. This suggests Talarico can pick up enough additional votes from independents and non-MAGA Republicans to beat Paxton.

Turnout in general elections. It’s been that way for decades. Up to now, most Texas Republican-leaning voters have gone along with whatever candidates that the primary voters picked for them.

Up until recently, those general-election Republicans haven’t found a Republican political candidate they couldn’t stomach. We’ll see if Paxton is a camel they can’t swallow.
