I was criticised when cooking a meal for 8 and my older brother was praised for tying his own shoes. I do understand the double standard. My oldest sister still to this day resents my curly hair. Like I had any say about it. My father's pet name for me was Scrabby Brat. And they want me to feel sorry for them because they were misunderstood...! I'm sorry but "Cry me a River"

Getting praise while my sister an I were criticized. I think too much of that was because their dad was a white hillbilly just like the rest of the family except ours because my mom had the temerity to marry a " foreigner" a scary Italian, so we got both racism and misogyny.

My nephew took his daughter. He's a MAGA so I pretty much have little to do with him anymore but I told him that in my day only girls who couldn't get a date went with a relative and usually it was a brother or cousin but someone the same age.

Things have not changed in centuries.
Sorry about my first post, I really didn't mean to make it personal, but something triggered me.
I have a deep seated thing about the double standard in my world. Again, my apologies.
