(15,823 posts)Every time I see one of these, I am less likely to vote for Newsom in the 2028 primary.

(15,823 posts)While I appreciate a president with a sense of humor, a candidate lowers himself for that high office by mimmicking Trump.

(6,871 posts)This sounds like a solution looking for a problem.
"I agree with this Democrat 100%, but his shoes are tacky so I am not going to vote for the Democrat."
I love purity tests and how we always throw our candidate under the bus for the idiotic of reasons.

(15,823 posts)The perfect is the enemy of the good.
Nobody is perfect. All have plusses and minuses. I see Newsom's ALL CAPS mimmickry of Trump as a negative. There are better ways to tear him a new one, including scathing wit and humor.

(1,389 posts)He's normalizing it. The ONLY thing that gets under his skin is making fun of him or embarrassing him.
There should be MORE of it. When he insults a journalist like he did Norah O'Donnell on 60Min she shouldve mocked his insult right then.
Martin Eden
(15,823 posts)He can tear Donnie 2-Dolls a new one without acting like him.

(1,389 posts)Because anything short of that is worthless. He MUST feel the sting Orr he'll just go on thinking he's everyone favorite. Because he's nuts
The days of Michelle Obama's "When they go low we go high" are long gone. Thats NOT going to work these days. Not with this idiot & his cult

(15,823 posts)Just one more enemy for Trump to trade insults with. Getting under his skin? I've lost count of the number of Liberal Youtuber threads about "meltdowns," which are the same kind of rants he's been doing for years. These trolling posts by Newsom won't move the needle on anything that really matters -- like moving the needle among independents, and even Republicans fed up with higher prices and getting tired of Trump's antics -- like his ALL CAPS self aggrandizing posts, among other things.
Engaging in those same antics may be some clever snark that provides some satisfaction, but it won't win any new votes to our side.
Strategic messaging has to be aimed, first and foremost, at winning elections. Taking back the House and Senate is the only thing that gains us real power.
As for messaging, tell the truth about Trumps lies, relentlessly. Attack, attack, attack, with the truth. Every time time a Democrat is asked about something he said, respond with "Let's remember that Donald Trump is a pathological liar with zero credibility."
Say it over and over again, until the endless repetition becomes a news story in itself. Back it up by citing anyvof his countless provable lies. He's given us plenty of ammunition.
Attack the BIG LIE, relentlessly. It's become a central tenet of the Republican Party to such an extent that no one in his administration and no Republican who wants to win a maga primary can openly state that Biden won the 2020 presidential election free and fair.
That BIG LIE is central to all the voter suppression laws being passed in red states; the so-called "SAVE America Act;" and schemes to deploy ICE at polling stations and sieze ballots under the guise of "election integrity."
This is some real serious shit that will determine whether our Constitutional democracy survives.
Newsom's Trump-style mockery on social media of a distraction in the existential fight we're in, to increase his popularity among Democratic voters in furtherance of his presidential ambitions.

(1,389 posts)Take the argument away from them. There IS a legit way to pass a voter ID bill that would PROVE that Democrats DO care about only allowing legal voters to vote. FORCE the GOP to hold it up & talk about it constantly just like the election lies (I cannot believe I know people who STILL say it was stolen after FIVE YEARS. I live in a red state). Right now, the general public thinks the SAVE act is simply a voter ID bill. WE know thats a lie. But MOST people dont pay that much attention; they'll simply see GOP ads & talking heads asking "why are Democrats against making sure only legal citizens vote???" And it will work, just like the border ads worked in '24.
Hold press conferences. Do all the talk shows & interviews. Tell everyone "we support voting security, why wont the republicans let us vote on it?"
We here need to remember that we are in the minority; people who closely follow real news & pay attention. the REST of the people are the ones who swing elections.
The video some posted yesterday showing Rep Crowe exposing Hegseth; ALL the Dems should be talking about that scandal on the news. Subpoena that lawyer.
Expose the grifting from foreigners.
There is SO much out there. But the first thing is to take away their attack points.
Oh, and what about the national debt? NOBODY is talking about that.

(15,823 posts)Even though impersonation of a voter by non-citizens is so rare as to be a non-issue, and the real intent of the SAVE Act is to disenfranchise voters they don't like, I agree we should take this issue from them to make elections more secure from any kind of fraud, manipulation, or siezing of ballots as this fascist regime apparently intends to do.
A central feature to any voter ID law needs to be concrete measures to ensure that no eligible voters are disenfranchised or wiped from voter rolls as Republicans in red states have done. They do not want free and fair elections with high voter turnout, because they would lose.
Voting is a fundamental right for all citizens. Every true patriot has no reason not to support these stated goals to ensure free and fair elections.

Justice matters.
(9,994 posts)Hoping the on-the-fence Republicans will realize they've been had by a conman and finally snap out of the mafia-don cult.

(15,823 posts)There are much better ways to get one's point across. These ALL CAPS mocking posts won't move the needle for any swing voter or MAGAt.
It turns me off, and I'm sure I'm not alone. I've been a Democratic voter since 1976. I will always vote for our party's nominee, but there are more choices in the primary.
Justice matters.

(15,823 posts)This might help him with some online users in the primary, but it will turn some (like me) off as well.
Won't help at all in the general election, though he'll probably change his messaging if he wins the primary.

(15,823 posts)If he found a different way to rip Krasnov a new one, or just stopped with the ALL CAPS Trumpian social media posts?
I suppose people have come to expect it, but I'd like to see the governor take a different approach to expose The Fascist Grifter for what he is, which can be done with scathing wit and humor.

(20,776 posts)Wont you at least reconsider, and give Governor Newsom another chance?

(15,823 posts)I like my governor better (Pritzger) but a lot can happen between now and 2028.
If it looks like the general election could be very close, my vote will go to the candidate who I deem most likely to beat the Republican.
That's what I did in 2020 with my primary vote for Joe Biden, breaking a vow I made in 2002 (the year I joined DU). I protested the war in Iraq before Dim Son Bush launched it. Heading into the Oct 2002 vote on the Iraq War Resolution, I was looking for strong Democratic leadership to oppose it. A little more than half the Dems in the House and Senate voted against it but several Senate leaders voted for it including John Kerry, Joe Biden, and Hillary Clinton. I vowed that no one who voted to give GW Bush authority to invade Iraq would ever get my vote in a Democratic primary. I held that vow for 18 years.
Newsom's ALL CAPS Trump trolling is a very minor issue by comparison.

(11,895 posts)This is clearly laughing AT Krasnov, not WITH him.
This is MOCKING and RIDICULE.
I think it's great and hilarious. Maybe some idiot MAGAts will see it, and be shown how Krasnov does the same thing every day. Except he sincerely means that shit.
