I was thinking this morning upon awakening,

that we have lowered the bar in such an extreme fashion during the past eleven years that we are likely past the point of no return

Lying: the first Trump administration kicked off their program/pogrom by declaring that the crowds for his inauguration were greater than those ever seen in the District of Columbia period, despite the fact that every photograph, video, and eyewitness account proved that that was untrue. Then we had 55,000 lies or so in between which prepared us for Scott Bessent stating that even if people felt and claimed that they were distraught, upset, frustrated, and economically challenged, that “in their heart of hearts” they were not. That actually might be the nadir, so far, of our journey downwards.

Thievery and corruption: it has been revealed that seats to the Kennedy Center, when it was open, were going for $100,000 to $1,000,000 or more in order to have access to Trump. Meanwhile, Democratic Party elected officials over the years were forced from office by the media and their own party members for submitting falsified and/or inflated restaurant and hotel bills to their own campaign committees. This is the tip of the iceberg: $2,000,000,000 to the President’s son-in-law given by a foreign power. Wonder why you haven’t heard much from Ivanka lately?

Incompetence: Hegseth, Patel, Noem, Oh Hell, everyone else he’s appointed. Res ipse loquitur.

Death: the War against science and healthcare is being waged deliberately. They want to reduce the population of “unwanteds” by hook or by crook: cutting benefits, limiting vaccines, removing environmental regulations, and who-knows-what-else all designed to increase mortality and lower life expectancy. If you’re ever interested in this concept, I suggest that you read a detailed treatise on morbidity and mortality-it’s remarkably complex and there exist subtle nuances within our civilization which contribute to its increase so that illness and death take a larger toll than one might expect.

A couple things: two years after Trump vanishes, I can almost guarantee you that it will be difficult to find anyone who will admit to voting for him publicly. When I was living in New York State during college, Nelson Rockefeller was winning the governorship in landslides but not a person I ever came into contact with ever volunteered that he or she had voted for him. What republicans talk about W., or his father, or even St. Ronny of Reagan? You hear their names more frequently on MSNOW than anywhere else.

Second, what the National media is going to do after the Democrats wrest control again is demand a “new” propriety for politicians and anything that even smells corrupt will be blown completely out of proportion. They will hold the Democrats responsible for sewage backups in communities since there will now have to be a “higher standard”, which will of course pave the road for the Republicans to make a comeback in 2 years, so they can screw everything up again.

It’s the American Cycle of Life.

2. To raise the bar, there must be standards and accountability. Here's my prediction:

Democrats take the House, and begin multiple oversight hearings to expose the worst crimes of The Fascist Grifter's administration. This is the duty of Congress, absolutely necessary for accountability and upholding the rule of law.

The rightwing noise machine will howl that this is nothing more than a vindictive witch hunt, an abuse of power much worse than anything Trump did.

The "fair and balanced" mainstream media will go into he-said/she-said mode, advancing a false equivalency narrative while giving short shrift to the actual facts.

Meanwhile, Democrats will be held under a microscope. Allegations will receive much more attention than dismissal of charges.

The voting public will forget the horrors of Trump V2 just as they did Trump V1, then the techbro billionaires will back the next would-be dictator and the media will again fail in their duty to warn.

3. I think we should hammer them on the corruption. It's what helped bring down Orban in Hungary..

All the self dealing, like Don Jr and Erik and going into business to sell drones to the Defense Department. The timing of insider bets on Polymarket and the stock market affected by future government actions. The DOJ cash settlements with Trump cronies’s frivolous lawsuits, like Flynn, Jan 6ers, and even the one between Trump himself and the IRS.

This administration makes Orban look like a petty criminal.

Americans, especially dems and independents, have, for the most part, moved on from MSM. We watch trusted, often former government officials, lawyers, journalists, etc. on independent media. My take is if MSM doesn't wake up now, not later, they are lost and will never be trusted again. Things are changing very quickly.

Mamdani won in NYC despite the talking dollars. It looks like he can keep it in spite of them.

The 2028 election will be similar to the one in 1932. We have a chance to reset American history, but you’re right it may be too late. Citizen’s United probably ended democracy in America.

6. The profit-oriented, mainstream media enabled Trump and everything he and his other enablers have done

The “free” press has, for the most part, been brought to heel by their corporate overlords, who will stop at nothing to maintain their iron grip in control.

It takes looking outside of the US for more accurate reporting.

A strong press would have gone hard after Trump, and his many crimes and ridiculous lies from the beginning. Instead, they are complicit.

The widespread media hysteria over Hillary’s emails seems quaint, by comparison.
