From the article:
He will read a passage from the Old Testament that his Christian supporters cite as a call to national repentance and divine blessing.
President Trump has a complicated relationship with the Bible. He has often called it his favorite book, has posed with it for photographers outside a church and has sold his own edition for $60. But he has also struggled to name a favorite passage or even pick a favorite Testament between the two.
Now, fresh from a week in which he skirmished with the pope and Christians accused him of blasphemy, Mr. Trump will participate in a marathon reading of the entire Bible in Washington, the events organizers announced Friday. The events leader, a conservative activist who once ran for Congress in Texas, has described it as a national reading of Gods law.
The White House issued a statement on Friday praising the event, America Reads the Bible, as an occasion to honor Holy Scripture, renew our faith, usher in a historic resurgence of religion on American shores, and rededicate the United States as one Nation under God.
Mr. Trump recorded his segment of the reading from the Oval Office, organizers said. He read a passage from the Old Testament book of II Chronicles that has become a touchstone for many of his Christian supporters, who interpret it as a call to national repentance and subsequent blessing.

Yikes, so scary: a national reading of Gods law.

25 - Matthew 25:42-46
42 For I was hungry, and you didnt feed me. I was thirsty, and you didnt give me a drink. 43 I was a stranger, and you didnt invite me into your home. I was naked, and you didnt give me clothing. I was sick and in prison, and you didnt visit me.
44 Then they will reply, Lord, when did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and not help you?
45 And he will answer, I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.
46 And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.

(22,392 posts)Prohibition of Revenge: The verse explicitly commands not to take revenge (NIV) or avenge oneself.
"Give Place unto Wrath": This phrase means to step aside and allow God to handle justice, rather than taking matters into one's own hands.
Divine Vengeance: The phrase "Vengeance is mine; I will repay" is a quote from Deuteronomy 32:35, emphasizing that retribution belongs solely to God.
Context: This verse is part of a larger, well-known teaching in Romans 12:17-21 about responding to evil with good, living in peace, and overcoming evil through kindness rather than retaliation.
Actionable Advice: The verse urges believers to trust in God's, rather than their own, power to right wrongs, reflecting a higher standard of love and trust.

(126,429 posts)... And a man ran to kneel before him, and asked Good master, what should I do to receive everlasting life?
But Jesus replied, Why call me good? for none are good but God. You know the commandments, to do no adultery, nor kill, nor steal, nor falsely witnessi, nor cheat, and to respect your father and mother .
And he told Him, I have done so since my youth.
Jesus saw and loved him and said, Only one thing remains: go, and sell everythng you have and give the money to the poor, so you will have treasure in heaven; and then come, follow me.
But he was sorry to hear that and went away grieving, because he owned much.
And Jesus said to his disciples, How hard it can be for the rich to enter the kingdom of heaven ...

Trump to release reading of scripture days after angering many Christians
The president has prepared an Old Testament reading for an event at the Museum of the Bible

President Donald Trump is making a dramatic show of religiosity just days after he posted an image on social media that many Christians found offensive.
A recording of Trump reading a verse from the Old Testament will be released next week as part of a celebration of the Bible, organizers of the event said Friday.

(106,353 posts)That, of course, could be read at least two ways in the USA.
13 If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;
14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Hard to match the Trump phase of the USA with "humble themselves", though. Even assuming Trump doesn't think his ways are "wicked", he's in the middle of building triumphal arches and ridiculous ballrooms, and constantly declares the US the "hottest" country in the world (as someone pointed out, it makes it sound like a 70s NYC disco). He is never humble.
So it's the drought, locusts and pestilence phase that Trump is causing.

(151,410 posts)This bible won't confuse Trump when reading passages of it aloud. He knows most of the 1200 words in its vocabulary. He even knows what many of them mean. This Bible is ideal for him, because of that.
It's free, too.
