Sending JD Vance to negotiate a peace agreement is an exercise in futility.

He has no experience whatsoever as an ambassador, a diplomat, even as a mediator or arbitrator. Just like Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff.

Not to say that Iran is sending someone with those skills and credentials.

Vance will likely lay out demands and conclude with "Take it or leave it!"

Plus, Vance has a legal background where you're trained as a litigator with Win-Or-Lose. By contrast, a mediator knows the nuances of an argument where both sides give up something in order to reach a resolution with no winners and no losers. And we all know that Trump is not going to accept being anything less than a winner.

My mother was President of the Board of Education in my town. A number of hardball contracts with the teachers. And she advised me that a successful agreement had both sides going home unhappy.

Has he quit?
This is the most recent piece I can find is a 100 days old and backing the Maduro capture. And Wikipedia does not mention his leaving the GOP.
Oh nm:
Kinzinger did not seek reelection to Congress in 2022. After leaving office, he joined CNN as a senior political commentator.

Lol..Josh Hawley it is! I do hate TikTok and Google. Common ground!

I do hate it when stuff like TikTok is pushed as somehow mainstream. It is a view of the world that is defined by not being Trump or Stormfepnt.

negotiations. This admin blatantly believes that cooperating with other nations is an annoying nuisance that doesn't demand special skills or experience -- it's certainly not as difficult as developing real estate in NYC or building a new WH ballroom.

it's clear Donnie doesn't think ANYTHING demands much talent and experience. Only loyalty to him and kind words in his ear every day. The man and his sidekicks are walking, talking evidence that Dunning and Krueger's most widely known theory is pretty solid.

when he was “installed” US Senator in Ohio by Thiel & co. and proceeded to do nothing in the Senate but warm a seat and wait for Dim Don to elevate him to a position he is extremely unqualified for. He is so far in over his head on the world stage plus he has zero charisma.

Donnie's instructions are probably to get this thing over with as soon as possible so his approval stops tanking, Nov. doesn't become an even bigger blood bath, and he doesn't share blame for blowing up the entire global economy. But Iran holds most of the cards right now. In short, they're going to get rolled and rolled badly.

It's an extremely tough situation for even the most seasoned diplomats. But these idiots?

I don't doubt we will be outclassed at the negotiating table.
