I'm pretty savy and have followed DU for quite a while. I understand that "kick" is a supportive frame, but I don't understand how it is or where the term came from.

K & R is kick and recommend and does the same thing.

(4,986 posts)It gets another milestone with each increment of twenty-five replies. Some DUers may like an OP, but they do not have time to write out a long reply. Therefore, they post just a short reply which reads "kick" or "kicked for visibility" to help the OP reach a milestone.

6,700+ responses every once in a while it pops up in the latest discussion feed because someone added a response (kick) and brought in back from the dusty bins of DU.
