I saw this reported from a source I am unfamiliar with so I must doubt its authenticity.
If it did happen, did the civilians do this willingly?
If this did happen with a significant number of people and then if Krasnov bombed those power plants and bridges he would go down as a mass murderer.
If this did happen, and if is a big word, I can believe that it may have had a part in Krasnov's surrender.
I must defer to the fog of war and conclude that it most likely was just Iranian propaganda.

This was was great for Iranian leadership, the opposition is basically gone as the entire country has rallied around them.

(32,413 posts)Just imagine what would have happened if Krasnov/Bibi had carried out the bombings and blown up all of those civilians.
The phone at the Hague would be ringing off its hook, Krasnov/Bibi would be wanted men.
Isn't this the real reason that Krasnov surrendered?

(106,266 posts)I presume you meant it as a reply to #1.
Why do you think that the entire world should all have reported it? Why are you calling "experts" "so-called"?

(23,320 posts)Dont know the source, or if they were real, or if the civilians were coerced if the photos were real.
Also not getting much reportage is Chinas role in encouraging Iran to work with Pakistan to reduce tensions with the US (emptywheel had a brief mention of China in her latest post that I havent seen anywhere else)

(8,958 posts)And read that Trump called it a 'war crime' for those civilians to do such a horrible thing so he couldn't do his scheduled war crime bombings.
Thinking the 'war crime' phrase might have stuck in his head after military brass told him why there would be no attacks on those civilian infrastructure targets he had a hard on to blow up. Thinking somebody with some rank and pull explained 'war crimes' and who gets held responsible in no uncertain terms. Thinking some brass explained THEY were not going to commit that kind of crime nor order their troops to do so for him.
Just thinking....

(106,266 posts)Some Iranians have formed human chains on bridges and outside power plants after authorities urged people to gather at potential US and Israeli targets.
It comes after Donald Trump threatened to attack Iran's civilian infrastructure.
At that page, video from the White Bridge in Ahvaz (with a few hundred people, and a massive continuous Iranian flag, which must have been made some time earlier, and a power plant at Kazerun (also hundreds).
"Willingly"? Well, they don't look coerced, and there are bound to be some supporters of the regime.
All it took to re-find this (I noticed it on the BBC website yesterday) was a Google search for 'bridges iran crowds'.

(3,346 posts)Trump is considerably less honest and reliable with his statements.
I'm literally pulling for Iran in this narrow set of circumstances.
Trump terrorized them, bombed them, committed war crimes against their society.
We are the bad guys. Full stop.
