Donald Trump for a long time has been itching to use a Nuke

He even wanted to try and nuke a Hurricane once and had to have it explained about fall out radiation, but has been obsessed with why nukes haven’t been used since World War Two. If Trump is threatening Iran with total destruction its pretty obvious what he has in mind despite the consequences. Who would stop him? No one!
