Soooo work permits not being renewed?

Just ran across someone with this situation, I suppose it’s already a known issue on DU but I hadn’t heard about it. So he’s filing taxes and paying taxes on work he wasn’t supposed to be doing (and is still doing) while he waits for ICE to take him down in the streets and deport him I guess.

She has been in this country since she was one year old, and is married to a US citizen. She is in her late twenties, and was escorted out of her office by upper management on the day her work permit expired. Not sure how this usually works, but my daughter and her co-workers were shocked .
