On the other hand he’s smart, isn’t bat shit crazy, has Theil’s money behind him, and would be able to run as an incumbent.

He should have campaigned in the big 5 Democratic cities in Ohio instead of sucking up to maga in NE Ohio.

Part of the motivation to vote against Trump syncophants in the midterms is to help put brakes on his worst instincts. I don't think that would be as much of a motivation if Vance were president - at least during a honeymoon period (which would last past November). I think more middle of the road voters would be inclined to give Vance a chance by not stacking the House and Senate against him.

And probably isn’t finished with the visit just yet.
