4. "This is not our war, we have not started it." - Germany's Defense Minister Boris Pistorius
Mon Mar 16, 2026, 11:40 AM
Yesterday
"What does (...) Donald Trump expect a handful or two handfuls of European frigates to do in the Strait of Hormuz that the powerful U.S. Navy cannot do?" German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said in Berlin on Monday, as he downplayed threats by Trump that failing to come to Washington's aid could have consequences for the NATO alliance.

"This is not our war, we have not started it," he added.

The conflict has nothing to do with NATO and Germany has no plans to be drawn into it, German government spokesperson Stefan Kornelius said.

"Neither the United States nor Israel consulted us before the war, and ... Washington explicitly stated at the outset of the war that European assistance was neither necessary nor desired," the spokesperson said.

But McCain managed to keep Graham "in check" for a number of wild things. And when he passed away, Graham had no more guardrails, which is why we are here today with this mess.

I was here during the 2008 Obama/McCain primary (and when that video of McCain's "Bomb Bomb" mess happened) and there was lots of discussion about the two of them, and later the post-McCain wild man Graham.

Japan has said it doesn't want to send military ships to the Persian Gulf. But Trump is threatening Japan if it doesn't send ships. The US has 2 dozen military bases in Japan. Trump has already directed some of the Japan-based US military to the Middle East, and wants Japan to send more of its military to the Middle East, even though Japan has no real beef with the Middle East, and is facing threats from China, Russia and North Korea in its home territory. At the same time, China is threatening Japan's friend, Taiwan.

The mad Mullahs announced months ago tha they'd close the Strait if they were attacked. They also threatened every US base in the region, along with the countries that host/leased them.

Apparently the Pentagon had planned to protect the Strait from the beginning but were overruled by a micromanaging Fatso, who thinks he knows everything and will listen to no one. He reallty thought a few days of heavy bombardment would cause religious fanatics to capitulate. One lesson of the last century is that a massive bombing campaign doesn't work, rather causing a country to rally around even the worst governments. Fatso didn't get the memo, or just ate it if he did.

I sincerely hope he's not lying about stoopping the bombing just short of having to go back to a Congress that is growing increasingly hostile to continue his vicious bungling. It's only during the aftermath that political things have a chance of happening in Iran. they will fall into line behind the IRGC until then.

Approximately 0.5 million barrels per day
In 2024, the United States imported approximately 0.5 million barrels per day (b/d) of crude oil and condensate from Persian Gulf countries through the Strait of Hormuz, accounting for about 7% of total U.S. crude oil and condensate imports and 2% of U.S. petroleum liquids consumption. This figure reflects the importance of the Strait as a critical chokepoint for global oil supplies, with oil flow averaging 20 million barrels per day (b/d), which is about 20% of global petroleum liquids consumption.

The above is the results I got from a Google search on how much oil America imports through the Strait of Hormuz. 7% speaks pretty loudly. To me, that points toward gas rationing within a month - perhaps a 10 gallon limit.
