U.S. District Court Judge Edmund Sargus, Jr. of the Southern District of Ohio ruled that The Ohio State University likely violated the First and Fourteenth Amendment rights of Guy Christensen, a student who was expelled from the school following statements made on social media about Israel and Palestine.
Ohio State was ordered to expunge any of Christensens academic records that indicate he was involuntarily dis-enrolled.
Ohio States legal team argued expelling Christensen wasnt motivated by a desire to punish him for the content of his speech but by one intended to protect the safety of the campus community, according to a legal filing.
The case surrounded a series of videos Christensen posted on his personal social media pages expressing his opinions on Israel and Palestine. Christensen, a TikTok influencer who has more than 3 million followers, goes by the username YourFavoriteGuy on TikTok and Instagram. He is a self-described pro-Palestine activist and identifies as anti-genocide on his social media, according to previous CJN reporting.
