She is a great woman, but hoping that giving her medal to Krasnov would change, would win him over, was naive.
Reporters asked Krasnov if Machado should be installed as president of Venezuela since it's estimated she beat Maduro with 80% of the vote.
Krasnov's reply, after he took the award, was that Machado doesn't have the support within or the respect of the country.
Krasnov has been supporting Delcy Rodriguez, Maduro's VP, or in other words, a continuation of the corrupt administration. The only difference between Maduro and Rodriguez is that Rodriguez is willing to sell its heavy crude at cheap prices to the US which has refineries along the coast set up to refine heavy crude. Eventually the Venezuelan heavy crude will replace the heavy crude that the US is getting from Canada.
No wonder Big Oil is keeping gasoline prices low for Krasnov.

(11,198 posts)He's just a pathetic man child. He is an embarrassment to our nation.
She is pathetic in that she gave the man child a medal so she MIGHT be given the reins of power by a megalomaniac. He won't - and even if he did she will forever be marked by her citizens as a weak person. The Nobel committee really screwed up giving her a peace prize. So many other deserving people were available.

(4,937 posts)against our country, and tried to overturn an election is NOT A GREAT PERSON. Add to that, her support for someone who has persecuted her fellow country people by refusing to give them due process, and just deporting them, has the same mindset of Maduro.
She is an embaressment to her country, and to the Nobel Prize committee.

(6,227 posts)Always remember too that the people trying to suck up to Trump are self-interested themselves. They think Trump can give them something - especially money and power.
I think Drumpf knows this and has no respect for these people because theyll latch onto his arse like a leech. Theyre all self-interested fleas.

The president seems to prefer a model where others do the heavily lifting and then generously turn over their honors.
Trump received a Nobel Peace Prize the same way he received a Purple Heart:

He wants the honors without the sacrifice. He prefers a model in which others do the work and then generously turn over their awards to him, because, as he put it, itâs âmuch easier.â www.ms.now/rachel-maddo...

Without setting foot on a battlefield, Donald Trump said he received a Purple Heart medal on Tuesday at his rally in Ashburn, Virginia, from a retired lieutenant colonel and supporter.
I said to him, Is that like the real one, or is that a copy? the Republican nominee said moments after taking the stage at a local high school. Trump recounted the exchange, remarking that the man, who he identified as retired Lt. Col. Louis Dorfman said, Thats my real Purple Heart. I have such confidence in you.
I always wanted to get the Purple Heart, the then-candidate declared. This was much easier.
Purple Hearts are awarded to service members or their families after theyre wounded or killed in the course of their military service. Due to alleged bone spurs in his feet, Trump avoided military service, but by his own admission, he always wanted to get the Purple Heart anyway.
Having someone who actually served in the military hand him the honor was much easier for Trump than actually wearing the uniform and putting his life on the line.
With Machado, the story is similar: Trump wants the accolades without the sacrifice. He apparently prefers a model in which others do the heavily lifting and then generously turn over their honors to him, without him having to do anything to merit the award he covets.
But while the president will likely celebrate the Nobel Peace Prize that ended up in his possession, hell know we all know that theres a dramatic difference between a gift and earned honors.
