NY-GOV: G.O.P. Candidate for Governor Says Renee Good's Killing Seems Justified

As the presumptive Republican nominee for governor of New York, Bruce Blakeman could be expected to find flaws in Gov. Kathy Hochul’s State of the State address.

Appearing in the State Capitol on Wednesday, a day after the annual address, he criticized the Democratic governor’s record on crime, complained about taxes and derided her child care agenda as a New York City giveaway.

But perhaps the starkest difference between them was in their stances on the killing of Renee Good by a federal immigration agent in Minneapolis last week, which Ms. Hochul has portrayed as an outrage.

“When you look at both videos, it looks like the individual that was shot, that person was engaged in trying to run down the ICE officer,” Mr. Blakeman told reporters in Albany, with the caveat that he would like to see a full investigation.

To me it’s pretty clear that she was turning away at a very low rate of speed and not attempting to hit anyone. If she really wanted to run the guy over, why not aim directly at him and step fully on the gas?

That’s not a partisan take, that’s just what happened based on the video.

They are merely repeating what they think MAGA wants them to "see."

Your giving them the ultimate benefit-of-the-doubt is just not something I believe they deserve.

On Facebook. I’ve known these guys for fifteen years and we’ve gone through a frame by frame analysis of the videos from all angles and they insist they’re seeing the exact opposite thing from what it actually shows. They seem to genuinely believe this. It’s as inexplicable to me as just about every interpretation of the events that have transpired over the time I’ve known them.

You’re probably right that the vast majority of these fools simply parrot what they’re told without doing any critical thinking but my small sample size truly believe the way they’re seeing it is how it went. As crazy as that may seem.

I have to think a good portion of the government officials know exactly what happened but they see an opportunity to use this to their advantage and are taking it.
