And yes. I do know that she "gave" him the physical MEDAL, and that the Committee has said in no uncertain terms that she can't transfer the HONOR itself. I assume that in his next TV interview, it will be on the Oval Office desk, placed to make sure it's in the camera shot.

Don't get yr panties in a bunch over this. It will always be an indicator of a second banana! Something to be laughed at. Losers all.

He's no more a Nobel recipient than someone who buy a Super Bowl ring in a pawn shop is a football champion.

(8,942 posts)Trump dodged the draft, by the way.
Donald Trumps version of a Purple Heart ceremony apparently involves honoring himself.
The president, a reputed draft dodger, likened himself to Americas wounded or killed veterans Thursday: It wasnt that easy for me, either, he said.
The ceremony was attended by 100 Purple Heart recipientsthree of whom had given Trump their own medals last year in the aftermath of the Butler, Pennsylvania, assassination attempt.
Last year, after an assassin tried to take my life in Butler, Pennsylvania, Thomas generously mailed me one of his Purple Hearts. Many of the other veterans showed me the same unbelievable gesture of kindness, including three-time Purple Heart recipient John Ford and Gerald Enter Jr., who also came along with us and did us a great, great favor, Trump said.
...
Gerald, John, and Thomas, I want to thank you very much. What a great honor to get those Purple Hearts, the president continued. I guess in a certain way, it wasnt that easy for me, either, when you think of it. But you went through a lot more than I did, and I appreciate it all very much.

Stripped of significance and any trace of honour, these are mere trinkets on a par with the cheap gilded crap with which he festoons every free vertical surface in the White House.

Trump received a Nobel Peace Prize the same way he received a Purple Heart:

He wants the honors without the sacrifice. He prefers a model in which others do the work and then generously turn over their awards to him, because, as he put it, itâs âmuch easier.â www.ms.now/rachel-maddo...

Without setting foot on a battlefield, Donald Trump said he received a Purple Heart medal on Tuesday at his rally in Ashburn, Virginia, from a retired lieutenant colonel and supporter.
I said to him, Is that like the real one, or is that a copy? the Republican nominee said moments after taking the stage at a local high school. Trump recounted the exchange, remarking that the man, who he identified as retired Lt. Col. Louis Dorfman said, Thats my real Purple Heart. I have such confidence in you.
I always wanted to get the Purple Heart, the then-candidate declared. This was much easier.
Purple Hearts are awarded to service members or their families after theyre wounded or killed in the course of their military service. Due to alleged bone spurs in his feet, Trump avoided military service, but by his own admission, he always wanted to get the Purple Heart anyway.
Having someone who actually served in the military hand him the honor was much easier for Trump than actually wearing the uniform and putting his life on the line.
With Machado, the story is similar: Trump wants the accolades without the sacrifice. He apparently prefers a model in which others do the heavily lifting and then generously turn over their honors to him, without him having to do anything to merit the award he covets.
But while the president will likely celebrate the Nobel Peace Prize that ended up in his possession, hell know we all know that theres a dramatic difference between a gift and earned honors.
