https://www.rawstory.com/dan-sullivan-2674893971/An Alaska Survey Research poll conducted Jan. 8-11 found former Rep. Mary Peltola leading Alaska Sen. Dan Sullivan 48 percent to 46.4 percent, with roughly 5.6 percent undecided, Newsweek reported. The margin of error sits at plus or minus 2 percentage points.
Republicans got an alarm bell as Peltola boasts a significantly more favorable rating than Sullivan: 46 percent positive versus his 39 percent. To boot, Sullivan's job approval took a hit, with just 36 percent approving while 44.5 percent disapprove.
The numbers suggest Alaska could be in play and may decide Senate control in November.
Peltola, the only Democrat to win statewide in recent years, has already hauled in $1.5 million in her campaign's first 24 hours.

But don't worry, some Oligarch will drop 100 million dollars into the race and White Alaskans will remember they hate them dang Libs.

(20,026 posts)the elections are still too far out to get overjoyed. There are so many things that can happen between now and then, and with Krasnov in charge it's doubly so.

(3,187 posts)The nonpartisan/Democrat-affiliated candidate got 41.2% and the Alaskan Independence Party candidate got 4.7%. So the R candidate is down 7% and D up by 5%. Definitely in play.

(1,169 posts)I was surprised when he said he wouldnt run; Kemp would've been hard to beat.
Mike Colins will beat "I'm Coach Dooly's son" but he's not a State wide name.
If Dems could take the Senate and the House it would really make a statement.

https://www.alaskasnewssource.com/2026/01/12/murkowski-backs-sullivan-hours-after-peltola-announces-senate-challenge/
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, backed Republican Dan Sullivan over her longtime ally Mary Peltola on Monday, as the former Democratic congresswomans Senate challenge quickly drew both parties into what could become one of Alaskas most competitive races in years.
Within hours of Peltolas early-morning announcement, political battle lines formed: Murkowski endorsed Sullivan despite previously supporting Peltola, while national Democrats including Senate Majority PAC and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren signaled they see Alaska as a potential pickup opportunity in the 2026 midterms.
Weve had a pretty solid team here in the Senate for the past 12 years, so we want to figure out how were going to keep in the majority, Murkowski told Alaska Public Media. And Dan delivers that. Murkowskis decision didnt come easily. She previously told the Northern Journal that a Peltola Senate run would put her in a difficult spot.
I wish Mary well, she is my long-time friend, Murkowski said in a statement to Alaskas News Source Monday. That said, I have worked closely and effectively with Senator Sullivan for the past 12 years, and I strongly believe that a Republican majority in the U.S. Senate is in Alaskas best interests. I will be supporting Dans re-election - just as I did in 2014 and 2020.
