US and Denmark still have a 'fundamental disagreement' over Greenland - Danish FM

Rasmussen describes today's meeting in Washington as "frank but constructive".

He says the US and Denmark's positions on the future of Greenland seem to differ.

The Danish foreign minister says US President Trump has made his views clear, but Denmark has a "different position".

"We still have fundamental disagreement" but we will continue to talk, he says.

'Not easy' to be innovative 'when you wake up every morning to threats' from US, Rasmussen says

“We look at ourselves as US closest allies,” he says, reminding of Denmark’s support for the US in Afghanistan.

He says diplomatically:

“I know very well that the future is not about the past, but I think it is important to have the past in mind.

We are eager to fulfil our promises. Even though our view on the situation right now around Greenland differs from public statements in the US, we want to work closely with the US, but it must be of course a respectful kind of cooperation.”

But he says that the two ministers told US counterparts that “it is not easy to think innovative[ly] about solutions when you wake up every morning to different threats.”

Denmark gives the U.S. Greenland.

In return The US gives Denmark an equal land mass equivalent to be taken from the lower 48. Ideally this will be made up of only Red states.

How the danish decide to deal with the population will be up to them. But I suggest they build a wall and get the U.S. to pay for it.

to Greenland or Denmark instead, there are defense agreements allowing U.S. military access.
It's time to start charging them.
