No one should doubt that the Senate is in play. Maine, North Carolina, Ohio, and Alaska are winnable; Iowa and Texas are competitive; and Democrats defense of Minnesota, Michigan, and Georgia look far safer. Republicans could very well lose both the House and the Senate, bringing Trumps reign of chaos, terror, and lawlessness to a screeching halt.https://contrarian.substack.com/p/democrats-must-seize-the-opportunity?utm_source=substack&publication_id=3719374&post_id=184460100&utm_medium=email&utm_content=share&utm_campaign=email-share&triggerShare=true&isFreemail=false&r=lxca0&triedRedirect=true
I'm posting just this one paragraph to illustrate just how good Jennifer Rubin is. The link will give you the entire article. Well worth reading.

(23,191 posts)Must be working behind the scene on voter protection and election integrity or something, but a more PUBLIC RHETORICAL APPROACH NOW really will help in November.

(22,181 posts)Theyve both said nix to any suggestion that Dems should attempt to defund or otherwise rein in ICE.

(129 posts)Unless they find the Republican support in either chamber the bills will go nowhere. Is this proposing trying to shut the government down again. That didnt end as well for our side as this article says it did. In the end we got the promise of a doomed vote. So all the hardship the people suffered in the end was worth nothing and gave Republicans the ability to say see the democrats closed the government and put all of you into this position. The truth is nothing is gonna happen with ICE until democrats take one or both chambers.

(12,407 posts)I think Rubin is right about grabbing the opportunity and running with it. What ICE is doing on American streets is not only unConstitutional. It is depraved, indecent and immoral.
Thanks for the gift link, Peggy. Worth the read. Rubin brings the fire in this one.

(37,624 posts)And I'm perfectly fine with the government shutting down over the issue until the November election if necessary. It's do or die time.
If they don't - it's only a matter of time before people begin to retaliate.
