If you have the opportunity I would highly recommend joining a union. Your small dues will make a big difference by helping people to fight for you, your wages and your rights. In addition it can help Democrats too since often times unions and Democrats are aligned on policy and they will receive support from the union.
Also Republicans have been doing all they can to make the workers weaker so they can be easily exploited. Joining a union makes the workers stronger and helps undo a bad trend of unions declining that from what I understand was started by Reagan.

I ALWAYS mention I am on the executive board of my teachers union.
You are just Joe Shmoe if you call about some matter. If you mention you are in a union, you are in a potential voting block.
