Trump Admits His Data Center Push Makes Energy Unaffordable

Trump and Republicans raised taxes on clean energy last year, destroying our best opportunity to hold down people's energy bills as data centers gobble up electricity. Anything he says he's doing on energy costs now is a fraud.

In a Truth Social post, Trump attempted to blame rising utility bills on “Sleepy Joe Biden and the Radical Left Democrats,” while simultaneously touting his own administration’s push to make technology companies “pay their own way.” He claimed utility costs have risen more than 30 percent and announced an imminent agreement with Microsoft, asserting the company will make changes “beginning this week” to ensure Americans are not “picking up the tab” for the electricity used by its data centers.

Trump framed the move as essential to maintaining U.S. dominance in AI while promising that voters would be shielded from higher bills caused by the industry’s explosive growth. Trump didn’t mention that his administration has scrapped several green energy projects, reducing the supply available.
