Donald Trump is so openly desperate for a Nobel Peace Prize that members of his administration attacked the Nobel Committee for putting politics over peace when they gave last years prize to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado rather than the U.S. president.
And now, Venezuelas future might hinge on Machados willingness to hand her award over to Trump.,
Machado immediately dedicated her prize to Trump (and the suffering people of Venezuela) in October. But apparently that wasnt good enough for the U.S. president. Hours after the U.S. struck Caracas and ousted Nicolás Maduro on Saturday, Trump said that while Machados stand-in candidate won more than two-thirds of the vote in Venezuelas last election, Itd be very tough for her to be the leader, because she doesnt have the support or the respect within the country. So now Delcy Rodríguez, Maduros vice president, is acting president.,
Over the weekend, two sources close to the White House told the Washington Post that Trump didnt want Machado to lead the country because committed the ultimate sin of accepting her Nobel Peace Prize.

Didn't somebody give Trump his Purple Heart medal? That might explain his mindset on the Nobel prize.

"A Nobel Prize cannot be revoked nor transferred to others. Once the laureate or laureates are announced, the decision is final," said Erik Aasheim, a spokesperson for the Norwegian Nobel Institute, which serves as the secretariat for the Norwegian Nobel Committee. Aasheim added that while the prize itself is not transferable, laureates are free to dispose of the prize money as they see fit.
The statement followed remarks by Machado during a Fox News interview on Monday, in which she praised Trump's actions that led to the capture of Venezuela's former president, Nicolás Maduro, and said that "because this is the prize of the Venezuelan people, certainly we want to give it to him and share it with him." Machado said she had not spoken directly with Trump since October, when she dedicated the award to him after it was announced.

(28,609 posts)...because one wouldn't be enough for him. President Obama has one, so Donnie Dipshit would want at least two, and even that probably wouldn't make him happy.
