The thing they billionaires running Trump policy keep pushing is the creation of a tax free haven where billionaires are a law unto themselves, a la Curtis Yarvin. The whole reason Trump pardoned the former Honduran president is because he's helping them set one up in Honduras. Now they're looking at the the same thing for Greenland, where a handful of unaccountable billionaires can completely take over and run it as a feudal fiefdom free from taxes for themselves and civil rights, labor laws, and environmental regulations for their serfs.

Honestly I think this whole Greenland thing is a feint. No billionaire wants to live in a mostly barren frigid wasteland in even if they get to basically be an absolute monarch. What they're really planning is to implement this same strategy in Cuba. It has a much nicer climate, is much more conveniently located so it's much easier to pillage all its resources. The main inconvenience is the 11 million Cubans who are in the way. Not that that will stop them.
