NJ-11: Wayne's only Dem councilwoman backs Way (D) for Congress

Francine Ritter, the lone Democratic councilmember in the Republican-leaning township of Wayne, has endorsed Lieutenant Gov. Tahesha Way, a three-decade resident of Wayne, in the special election for New Jersey’s 11th congressional district.

Ritter, who made her endorsement late last month, represents the town’s Ward 5, which is split between the 11th district and the neighboring 9th district; Ritter ran for an at-large seat last November, but was defeated.

“I’m proud to stand with Tahesha Way because she’s proven she has what it takes to take on the toughest fights and win,” Ritter said in a statement. “She’s been sued by Donald Trump, fought him in court, and won – and she never backed down despite threats and attacks.”

Way isn’t the only Wayne politician in the 12-candidate Democratic primary; also running is Passaic County Commissioner John Bartlett (D-Wayne). Way and Bartlett are sharing the official support of the Passaic County Democratic organization, while Bartlett was recently endorsed by most top Democrats in Little Falls, one of the other Passaic County suburbs in the 11th district.
