Trump's health issue is growing. Maybe it's JD Vance time. | Opinion

As a longtime observer of Donald Trump, I can confidently say the president has grown more rambling, drifting far afield of whatever subject he’s addressing and demonstrating even less inhibition.

Nothing snuffs out questions about a near-octogenarian president’s health quite like that president repeatedly bragging about passing a dementia test and telling the world he ignores his doctors and doesn’t exercise.

As 2026 begins, President Donald Trump’s health has become a more-than-reasonable concern. We’ve repeatedly seen him attempting to cover up odd bruises on his hands, he struggles to stay awake during public events and now, by his own admission, he’s ignoring his doctor’s advice and taking a high daily dose of aspirin because he’s “superstitious.”

In announcing an unauthorized weekend attack on Venezuela, Trump appeared exhausted and often incoherent, slurring words as he spoke. While others spoke, the president seemed to struggle to stay awake.

The Wall Street Journal recently became the second major news organization, after The New York Times, to shine a spotlight on Trump’s health, which he repeatedly claims in unhinged social media rants is “PERFECT.”

The same report noted of Trump: “His skin is so delicate that Pam Bondi, now his attorney general, caused his hand to bleed when she nicked him with her ring while giving him a high-five at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.”

2. No Republican in Congress will utter a peep over his bad health. Ever.

They will wheel him out to his office on a hand truck if they have to.

And let him eat all the fast food he wants in any combination he desires….

2- 4 Big Macs with fries, washed down with a couple Quarter Pounders with extra cheese followed by 3-5 Filet-O-Fish sandwiches. A couple gallons of Diet Coke.

Make him happy in his final few days.
Kill him with kindness…can’t use bullets.

5. T's health is not my biggest worry, JD followed by Johnson as next in line is. Trump is chaos, JD is a plotting psycho.

But Vance doesn't have the extreme loyalty of the base like Trump does, so other elected Republicans would be much more likely to put space between themselves and a President Vance.

9. Maybe. Will be a scary but interesting theory to test. Depends on how out of it Trump is.

8. Until he actually keels over or is visibly incapacitated, these health reports about him are meaningless.

Republicans will prop him up aka Weekend at Bernie’s until they absolutely no longer can do so. I fully expect this behavior of theirs to continue until after Election Day in 2028 when he no longer serves a purpose to them.

More of us on the left should be skeptical of these doom and gloom posts about his health because they are effectively meaningless from a practical perspective. Nothing is going to change.
