(150,643 posts)Apparently it's, you know, nasty or something, so you have to go to YouTube to watch it.

Things that make you go hmmmm.

(71,104 posts)... Don't let youtube fool you. This video has been up unblacked out for over a decade, until TACO was "re-elected". Prove me wrong.

(1,028 posts)What an odd challenge. It is context-free thumbnail-free mystery click-bait. The mysterious link (a blank thumbnail that's "age-restricted" and "only available on YouTube'') offers absolutely nothing to put it in context. It's relying on our curiosity to find out more... that is the very definition of clickbait.
Whether or not the content at the other end of the link is interesting, or cute, or funny, or educational, or toe-tapping, or heartbreaking has NOTHING to do with the fact that the link that invites us to visit this mystery video is itself clickbait. It provides NO information and NO context and only a vulgar/offensive subject line to pique our curiosity. ergo: Clickbait! It describes the mystery link, not the content (whatever it might be.)
Also, whether or not I watch it or not does not change its clickbaity-ness of the link. As I said above, it is what it is. Nothing I do will change it. Nor will anything that a cute little mouse has to say will change it either.

(27,075 posts)A series of still photos dramatize the points the video makes with a low key voice over. this is not clickbait. It is what exactly but says it is - evidence that the dirty fucking hippies were right all along.

(1,028 posts)FYI... actually it was clickbait. I think you're smart enough to understand that in this context, I'm describing the "mystery link" with no context, not whatever awaits at the other side. In the end, it's something that provides zero information and which "baits" them into clicking out of curiosity, rather than providing any relevant or contextual info.
Clickbait like that is designed to create a "curiosity gap" between what a reader knows (ie: that requires adult verification AND that it's only viewable on Youtube) and what they want to know, often using sensationalism or emotional triggers (like the vulgar headline).
The element of mystery in the blackout thumbnail is the equivalent of the classic "You Won't Believe What Happened Next" which the most iconic clickbait trope, teasing a shocking outcome without revealing any details.
And then there's the classic "What Happens Next Will Make You Cry" which leverages high-arousal emotions like sadness or inspiration to force a click.
"The Truth About [Topic] They Don't Want You To Know" or "We Were Right All Along" taps into paranoia or the desire for "insider" information. (OMG... the hippies were right... but we don't KNOW what this link is talking about... plus it requires ADULT verification... I simply MUST click to find out what I'm missing!'')
Please. It's clickbait. I can spot clickbait a mile away, and this blacked-out, adult-verification required, login at youtube required, mystery content link was definitely clickbait.

(27,075 posts)a legitimate video with a legitimate title and description. You, my friend, are obsessed and invulnerable to reason. Good luck with that. I hate clickbait, and have often called it out in posts, but I'm equally disinclined to dismiss an opinion without verifying the source.

You accuse me of having a "heavy axe to grind" ?? You accuse me of being "obsessed" ?? You accuse me of being "invulnerable to reason"??
Oh, FFS!
The "title" you're defending was context-free. Your attempt to help-along the OP by providing an after-the-fact summary was a nice touch, but that did not change the fact that the original link, as presented, is clickbait. Perhaps it would change things IF the OP had made the effort to edit his own post and add such a description after seeing that the video had been restricted. But he didn't... so the clickbait label is accurate.
Now, let's circle back to the personal comments you made about me. I've made no such accusations about you, or your motivations, or your mental capacity. I wonder why anyone would think it's okay to do the same about me. There's no need to get personal or analytical or insulting. I've explained my position carefully and I stuck to the facts.
It's been my experience that if someone starts name-calling or insulting, that's a good indicator that they realize that they are debating from a position of weakness and they feel that they've already lost the argument.
Oh well, "my friend"... Bye.
