Bari Weiss' Next CBS News Move: Town Halls With JD Vance, Sam Altman and Debates About God and Feminism

CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss is looking to make her mark on the network news division, launching a series of primetime town halls and debates alongside Weiss’ The Free Press under the banner “Things That Matter.”

CBS says that Vice President JD Vance, Maryland Governor Wes Moore, and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman have all agreed to participate in the town halls, with the debates set to address topics like “Does America Need God?” “Has Feminism Failed Women?” and “Should Gen Z Believe in the American Dream?”

CBS has lined up people like Isabel Brown and Harry Sisson to debate the American dream, Steven Pinker and Ross Douthat to debate the God question, and Liz Plank and Allie Beth Stuckey to debate the feminism question.

“We believe that the vast majority of Americans crave honest conversation and civil, passionate debate,” said Weiss in a statement. “This series is for them. In a moment in which people believe that truth is whatever they are served on their social media feed, we can think of nothing more important than insisting that the only way to get to the truth is by speaking to one another.”

Completely worthless, meaningless tripe. Does America need God? That should be a fun one. I may watch, take a shot everytime something idiotic is uttered. Emergency Room 5 minutes in.

That they will be bottom of the ratings very soon if this is the crap they’re serving up.

The Chia Pet and Creasote Log will have run its course. Maybe Danica Patrick can pitch her worthless extended car warranty.

I don’t see merit in debating deranged Nazis. If you even debate them in the first place, they’ve won.

Of course Feminism hasn’t “failed women.” The question itself is loaded, absurd and reeks of propaganda.

Only without the spectacular acting talent and elegant sex appeal Faye displayed in the movie. Bari’s more like Chris Farley in the SNL Gap sketch from the 90s.

Because being a reactionary radtrad at the Times apparently gives you theological qualifications? Oh, well, no matter...I can't wait until Douthat makes his appearance. All the kids on social media will make sure he relives the infamy of his "chunky Reese Witherspoon" moment once again. (Seriously, Google that phrase for a good laugh at Douthat's expense).
