He's really hopped up. Not even taking a breath. How soon will he run out of steam and put himself to sleep.
He's trying to buy his way out of the crisis he created.

(79,722 posts)People who worked with him in the 80's say he was a big cocaine abuser back then?
Could he still be using?

(2,671 posts)There isn't really a 'razor edge' to the energy that you'd expect from cocaine. Adderall would get him through the speech and explain the sniffling, and the relative focus.
Provigil, I believe, would just keep him awake. It is to my understanding a very clean psychostimulant.
Hell, I don't know. He might be on a carefully titrated combo of things to prevent his skeleton from escaping.

(79,722 posts)Like last time, the current WH physician keeps him medicated with uppers and downers.
In the military they call it go and no go drugs.
But he has a history of abusing drugs, so he could be adding something extra.
Also keep in mind with your analysis we are looking at someone with dementia,
so we may not see the typical reaction to various drugs.
When I look at the Oval Office ludicrous gold decor on every inch of wall space
it looks bipolar or big hits of uppers.

(2,671 posts)His White House is increasingly looking like his Atlantic City casinos, which look like if a colonialist vomited on an old sears catalog.
You have an interesting hypothesis regarding the decor and his mental decline. I wonder if it is a regression to his (pun unintended) golden years of the 80s or if it just because "ooo shiny my frontal lobe is swiss cheese".
I suspect the former.
In re: Go/No go. My understanding is the Air Force goes with provigil for "go" and zaleplon/sonata for "no go", and I can report confidently that 20 mg of zalepon will make ya no go. Amazing drug, approved for middle-of-the-night insomnia because the body clears it so fast. But you know I'm a neurochemical nerd.

(79,722 posts)Yes he has to be on a drug cocktail.
He is manic and needs to calm down.
And falls asleep and needs to wake up and be more alert.
But this is a tricky combination to balance.
Well I am now wondering if Trump has been bipolar all along.
Or if we are just seeing the effects of all the uppers he has taken in the past and currently.
I think yes it is combination of factors, his 80's narcissistic obsession with gold and being important.
And his dementia, it is now all weird and very off, this gold decor.
The history of USAF go and no go drugs has changed of course over time.
In WWII and Viet Nam, amphetamines were used.
The Nazis used large quantities of drugs I have read.
Interesting about what the USAF is using now.
