MAGA I know in denial

I showed a MAGA I know Trump’s reaction to Rob Reiner’s death. His response? “Trump didn’t write that. Biden didn’t write his posts.”
The denial is strong. MAGAts can’t face reality.

1. So he doesn't think that was a good post to make?

You might ask, "Why would Trump let it go out under his name then? Does he have no control over his staff?"

11. Right. The MAGA you know may well have been right that Trump didn't write the post

But it went out under his name meaning Trump at the very least supported what was stated in the post. So how does the suspicion that he didn't write it make it ok? You might also point out that later on Monday Trump basically repeated what was said in the post, but this time out loud in front of reporters. So how does this person feel about that?

12. The last time someone said, "What about Biden?" I got mad.

I said, "Joe Biden is a cancer patient now. He's retired. Why are you so scared of him still?"

I don't know if they're capable of feeling shame, but they sure act like they know they're supporting the shamefulness of Trump.

I was told that "Obama built a basketball court so why is everyone so upset that Trump is building a ballroom for the American people?"

I felt a moment of pure rage.

with his own stubby little fingers. Is your MAGA "friend" actually admitting that Trump doesn't know what his staff is putting out in his name?

Trump hasn't quite learned yet, but there is a reason that any executive has a communications officer that works with them, rather than just spontaneously tweeting: it provides a filter to keep bad things from going out that could possibly provide blowback. Somewhere, though, I think that he's beginning to make this realisation, probably because the unfiltered tweets are increasing evidence of his own cognitive decline. When the message looks grammatically correct, this makes me think that Trump is either dictating his rant (more than likely) or letting someone else rant for him (less likely) in a more controlled manner. it doesn't make it any less vile, but it does serve to hide his own mental deterioration.

As for the MAGAts, there is a hard core of people who are just narcissistic sociopaths, misogynist, racist, often psychopathic. They don't see anything wrong with Trump, and frankly they are beyond help. For those who trusted him on his word, however, the sense of betrayal is there, but they don't want to seem out of step with what they believe is their in-group. They may not vote Democrat, but they are increasingly unlikely to vote GOP either. There are also those who were taken in by the media blitz toward the end of the election, and are much more skeptical now that they've seen how things are actually playing out.

They aren't moved by logic, science, rationality, or common sense. These people walk among us and they pretend to be "good" people. I've come to view them as very dangerous.
