"Get between your kids and drugs any way you can if you want to save their lives" - Carrol O'Connor

I refuse to post or comment on anything Voldemort.

The image in my head is Carol embracing Rob and Michele, with both laughter and tears.

Carrol was such a huge influence on me, not as Archie Bunker but as a vulnerable father trying to protect his children and family. I lost a dear friend in 1993 to drug abuse and suicide, and the way Carrol fought for his son inspired me to try to help my family and friends since then.

Carrol’s son Hugh was often on the set of All In The Family so Rob knew him and of his struggles. And here we are 30-years later. Crazy.

Sorry my keyboard is a lil wet. I feel sooooo sorry for the surviving Reiner family gosh it hurts. The only thing that lifts me up a little is Carrol and Rob together again. Wow.

We’ve been trying decrim in BC. It doesn’t work without more beds in voluntary and involuntary rehab. All it’s led to is leaked memos from health authorities reminding nurses to not attempt to stop people from using drugs in the hospital.

It’s crazy to me that on the one hand people will chase smokers down with pitchforks but someone shooting up on a swing at a playground is “awww leave that person alone.”

Most doctors will not prescribe what we chronic pain users need to get by. I was totally suicidal from my chronic pain. I was lucky if I could brush my hair on e a week. My husband had to cut up my food and feed it to me. I was on the verge of suicide when my son suggested trying Delta 8 edibles. They are legal. It changed my life. At one poi t I stopped taking it, to gauge how much pain I was in. My therapist saw hos much pain I was in and told me to get back on it at once. There is no doubt in my mind I would not be here if it were not for delta 8. Now I drink THC Infused beverages everyday. They are a smoother high for me, and I get it at the grocery store.

You would rather see people like me commit suicide than to have it legal? You remind me of my concussion specialist. I told him how well it worked for me, and he was horrified. He told me I had to stop. I explained I was suicidal. He shrugged.

When I was a teen people were worried about teen pregnancy. IMO, pregnancy has nothing on drugs. The drugs today are stronger and easier to access. I’m terrified of my kids ending up hooked on something.

And it’s happening everywhere. A local pediatrician did an interview about 10 years back talking about how her son had become an addict. It doesn’t stop. It doesn’t get better. All you can hope for is the kid doesn’t OD and die or OD and cook their brain enough times that even though they are brought back to life they’re a zombie.

The war on drugs was an abject failure but fentanyl and whatever that newer thing is will destroy society.

I read of a 13 yo middle schooler caught at school with around 1500 pills that tested positive for fentanyl.
Feels like some kids are even “groomed” by olders…

No 13 year old decides to sell that poison like they would sell items for sports booster program or grad celebration fund.

Hugh died in a motorcycle accident in 1961. My parents always said that both brothers were good, kind people.
