Hungary and Italy are taker states. It costs the EU to have them and it will cost them to leave. Look at Brexit. ChicagoTeamster Dec 14 #6

After looking at what leaving the EU did to the UK which had a comparatively better, stronger economy than any of theirs, They would be stupid to leave. For what? To join a political and economic block with the US and Russia? I doubt Poland will go for it. But, this is how the Kremlin starts asymmetrical warfare. The US will act as a proposed invitee to a new alliance and the Kremlin operatives will begin pushing it online and paid agitators will start things in local populations and eventually try to rig an election. They're trying this in Georgia now.

I have no idea about Austria but my instinct says that’s also ridiculous. The trade benefits with the rest of the EU countries far outweigh anything they’d negotiate independently. Look to the UK which is growing significantly poorer having left.

Orban is a wild card who appears to want closer ties with Russia but Hungary gets far FAR more by being within the (rich) EU than they would being aligned with Russia or outside the fold.

Literally, zero.

This is goofy. The only thing they have in common is conservative governments. Italians in general like the EU.

This guy needs to stick to US politics and read the current National Defense Authorization Act against the National Security Strategy which he's so worked up about.

The latter is the vision (more like a fever dream) of a few hard-line nutters in the Trump administration channeling the worst of the Heritage Foundation etc. The former is a thrashed-out reflection of how bipartisan elected representatives actually see the US's place in the world and its relations with other countries. It seems calculated to pre-empt any moves laid out in the NSS and to tie the Trump administration's hands in bringing it anywhere near reality.

If Trump's been unable to bring enough of those in his own party onboard to warp the legislation, I don't see how he's going to be able to enlist those favoured countries as this video suggests.

The other three are taker states. Italy shouldn’t be, but it is. Hungary and Poland suck money out of the EU like a vacuum sucks up air. The Germans might be happy to them go, but the populations of Poland and Hungary would set up a guillotine for each of their leaders if they did.

I.e. no way in the world.
