A personal memory: A number of years ago friends and my wife and I were in Kansas City. We had dinner at the Savoy Grill. The men were wearing suits, and the ladies nice dresses. The waiters were in tuxedos. There was a rodeo in town, and shortly after we were seated a party of three were seated at the table next to us — two men and a woman.

The men were both wearing large cowboy hats, and refused to take them off when asked by the maître d'. I realize that my perception is colored by the fact that they were loud, and one of the men took a roll off our table that nearly resulted in blows. That said, it appears those hats have been welded onto the heads of many “western men.”

Of course, Trump is neither western, nor a real man.
