I'm not from Texas, but I love that Jasmine Crockett is running for Texas Senate. We need her strong, intelligent and powerful voice there. Kamala Harris was a force on the Judiciary Committee and that strength is missing and I know Jasmine Crockett could fill that void.
I think James Talerico would be a better fit for the House than the Senate.

(2,309 posts)Crockett is amazing, too. But one way or another they should be running for different offices. A whole buncha money is about to be spent on this primary and I fear it will be very divisive.

(2,539 posts)James Talarico seems like a decent guy, but Jasmine Crockett is immensely more qualified for the Senate position, she's a fighter and she's a rock solid Democrat. Republicans will make this ugly enough, so I'd be pretty disappointed in any Democrat who tried to make this ugly as well.

(2,309 posts)Only because he has a higher ceiling and has already proven cross party appeal by flipping a red district and holding it repeatedly. But yes, I agree that I hope neither Dem goes negative on each other.

(1,875 posts)I think both Crockett and Talarico are great people and wish we could have both their voices. Unfortunately, I fear we will have neither. Crockett stands no chance running in deep red Texas. Beto came as close as anyone has, only getting defeated by 3%, and he was a white guy. Crockett will have both sexism and racism working against her.
And this is exactly why republicans will ensure she is the candidate that makes it through the primary. They know Talarico, a Christian Hispanic man, would appeal much more to our majority Hispanic state, and present a bigger threat.

(2,539 posts)I do feel that Republicans overall fear Jasmine Crockett more than they do Talarico.

(40,616 posts)I think Talerico should drop out, and run for Jasmine Crockett's congressional seat. No sense waisting tons of money in a primary battle.

(1,875 posts)Talrico is leading in white voters, Hispanic voters and young voters.
Which is these voting groups do you think will serve whoever ultimately emerges as the candidate better in the statewide election in November?
White voters and Hispanic voters make up 80% of the state combined.
Black voters make up 12% of the state.

(2,539 posts)Hispanic women favor Crockett while Hispanic men favor Talarico.
White women are split between the two candidates.
