Maine school district moves to ban trans athletes from girls' sports, siding with Trump over state authorities

A school district in Maine is moving to comply with the current federal definition of Title IX and ban biological male trans athletes from girls’ sports, while the state government fights to enable trans inclusion.

The MSAD #70 School Board voted unanimously on Monday night to comply with Title IX, “recognizing only two sexes – biological male and biological female and that all private spaces be separated by biological sex.”

MSAD #70 superintendent Tyler Putnam told Fox News Digital that, due to this vote, he is now directed to amend the district’s policies to prevent trans athletes from competing in girls’ sports.

“The motion directs me to rewrite our policies to adhere to the motion. It is my interpretation that the school board will be looking to approve policies that align biological sex to their specific athletic teams too i.e. biological males will be playing with only other biological males and same for biological females. These policies will need to be approved by the policy committee and the board once rewritten,” Putnam said.

I'm not aware that any trans athletes are raising the issue up there.

Maine School Administrative District (MSAD) 70’s school board voted unanimously on Monday night to defy the Maine Principals’ Association (MPA) and the Maine Department of Education (MDOE) by adopting policies consistent with federal Title IX anti-discrimination laws and banning males from female school sports.

The Hodgdon school board is the first to vote to accept President Donald Trump’s executive order “Keeping Men out of Women’s Sport,” based Title IX guidelines, in defiance of the state government’s position.

State legislators who oppose the Mills’ administration flaunting federal directives oin this question were quick to weigh in supporting MSAD 70’s decision.

“Thank you to the citizens of Amity, Haynesville, Hodgdon, Linneus, Ludlow, and New Limerick who spoke up for Maine girls, and the board members who voted for a fair, safe, and level playing field AND safe spaces,” said Rep. Laurel Libby (R-Auburn) on X in response to the vote.

If this district of 500 total students (approximately 40-50 per grade) has more than than 5 trans kids in the high school of approximately 170 kids, it would be a shock.

If any of them participate in sports, that would be even more shocking.

But those 2-5 kids now know the school is ok with them being bullied to death.

Y'know, the girls who are accused by the other team's parents of being trans females and be forced to undergo humiliating examinations just because they've the misfortune of being bigger or not feminine looking enough as well as being better than the little princess who is the best player at her school.
I was one of the girls who could and did make the boy's HS Varsity soccer team before Title IX. Because there was no Girls Varsity soccer team at the time.
Just as one of my intersex/presenting female classmates could compete and win in the flyweight Wrestling team - but then, very few boys on the other team wanted to go up against her.
Ridiculous, thinking that average cis-teenage boys would take the time and long-term effort to pretend to be trans to get an "advantage" or attention, risking bullying, distain, and rejection from their peers and family members. That's only something supposedly grown assed perverts and haters would think up.
