(2,029 posts)That is absolutely correct. It is imperative to take this to the streets. There are mass demonstrations planed for next Saturday. Last week's demonstrations were a good start, but this coming demonstration is make or break. It must be at least as big as last week. If the numbers drop off, the MAGAs will insist that the lack of numbers indicates a lack of interest. If the numbers do go down, then they might be right.
I truly hope people don't have the idea that it is one and done. It is extremely important to keep up momentum. Popular resistance is a long term commitment. The demonstrations must go on and become ever larger. The good news is that Trump's ongoing destructive behavior will provide an ever larger number of recruits to join the marches.
There is also other good news here. Organizing and attending events will bring together networks of people that can be the basis of a political movement sufficiently large to dislodge the Republicans that have hitched their wagons to Trump. That also means there will be some Democrats going down the road too. I can think of ten off hand.
We are living in consequential times. I hope we measure up.
