My wife stopped off at the liquor store. Everybody was staring at the boxes of Coronas. Nobody was buying them.

The price has doubled. $32 for a box of 12.

A box of Coronas will last us a few months; we're not big beer drinkers, actually not big drinkers at all, but well, fucking Magas are certainly letting the good times roll, aren't they?

And now Trump has single handedly created a period of global inflation. And, of course domestic producers will raise their prices to match the imports because they can.

here in the city. One day, me and my SO were sitting at a local drinking establishment, and a young lady walked up to us, said that she was a Annh. Busch rep, and noticed that me and my SO other were drinking Bud Lite, as we always have. She said that she appreciated that and wanted to thank us by buying us a round of Bud Lites. So nice, and of course, she didn't have to do that, we have, over the years, dozens of our friends work at Annh. Busch over the years here in STLMO, so we support them as a result.

But the offer to buy and get both a busch beer / bud lite was so nice, for Annh. Busch to do this.

Alcohol is covered by the USMCA agreement, and there is no tariff on most alcohol imported from Mexico or Canada.

Modelo Negro (imported from Mexico) was exactly the same price it has been for at least a year at two different outlets since the tariffs. I didn't look at Corona, since I don't have any interest in it.

A case of 24 12-oz. bottles of either Modelo or Corona is still shown as $28-30 at Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia.

https://www.totalwine.com/beer/import-beer/c/516520

Sixteen 500-ml cans of Carlsberg went from $13.49 to $14.99. Total lists it as a German beer, but the company is Danish, and this Carlsberg comes from their brewery in France.

My local beer store was more concerned with the cost of cans going up more than beer. Because even American beer uses imported metal for cans.

I got some pre-tariff beers from various countries and some liquor.

Nobody knows how long this will last. Comrade Krasnov often does exactly the opposite of what he says he'll do. So he might reverse some more tariffs.

$17.99 at Safeway.

The tariff on imported beer is 25%, so it sounds like your liquor store is engaging in price gouging unless they were charging $25 for a 12 pack before the tariffs. You might want to think about doing business with a different store.

one can do a lot better if one likes lager. If there is not a small brewery local, Kona makes a good lager, Harp is excellent. If one is really lucky, they can get Yuengling which is marketed as a lager, but I see it as a very good traditional American pale, sold in many stores.

These are all refreshing, and mostly not supporting multinational conglomerates (though Harp is brewed by Guinness which is owned by Diageo).

Maybe some grocery items that may have increased anyway before the tariffs.. except for my tofu cat litter... it has gone up by about $10, however, one went up before the tariffs were in place- I tried another one that gave me more at one time because I found with 3 kitties we needed more until the next shipment came. The dry cat food went up too, but also before the tariffs but maybe in anticipation of them.

I am waiting for the shock when it happens. Fortunately computers and phones will be excluded apparently- I will use my phone as long as I can, it is already a pretty old model I got for free, but I do need another laptop for work alone due to various reasons. When I need a new phone if it totally breaks I can use my father's phone maybe.

As for booze, I rarely buy any and always get the cheap champagne or wine etc. 😹

Yes, leave it to maga to make everything a misery for everyone.
