A BA-bushka in a ba-BUSH-ka.

bushka is a little old lady, and a babushka is the kerchief.

While the ч in "конечно" is pronounced as a "tch" as a stand alone letter, at the end of an unstressed syllable, it goes soft and is pronounced like a "sh." An unstressed "o" is pronounced like an "a" too..........

Therefore, the word "конечно" is really pronounced "kan-YESH-na" in Russian.
But keep it up! It's a start, and shows you've got the initiative. Most people don't even get that far!

And most of it was in various highly formatted military message types although where you really learned things was when folks just started chit chatting and gossiping because they were bored.

While the ч in "конечно" is pronounced as a "tch" as a stand alone letter, at the end of an unstressed syllable, it goes soft and is pronounced like a "sh."
The ч is at the end of the stressed syllable in конечно when the word is used to mean "of course." It's at the end of the stressed syllable when the word is used to mean "finite" and is pronounced t͡ɕ.

An unstressed "o" is pronounced like an "a" too..........
Not always. It depends, often on how far the o is from the stressed syllable. In молоко, each о is pronounced differently, or "reduced." The first one is closer to a schwa. The second one is closer to an ɐ. And the third one, where the accent is, is the pure-ish o.

But keep it up! It's a start, and shows you've got the initiative. Most people don't even get that far!

конечно is translated by google as "Certainly of course naturally" in a way that implies OK, no problem .... to dismiss.
But this misses the very significant idea "I agree"............ кон is cognate with com.. as in 'com' munication , community, conclave = together

I tend to agree with you. But do you know any Russian verbs of motion that embrace the notion of end/finality?

Proto European predates proto-slavic---or at least is somewhat 'con' -temporaneous

Had fun with that as a youngster. Knew both languages, not well, but with no one to talk to…faded away.
Understood enough to know when I was in trouble and try to defend myself to the laughter of the elders.

Made it to a local rally last Saturday, which was energizing. Several women I met said they had felt so alone, and I was happy to say firmly, “You are not alone.”

That and a couple of other things I’m doing have been beneficial for my state of mind. Hope the same for you
