General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsSince shedding XM radio I have become an automobile captive audience to local and national new and public radio.
I have learned that I have been missing a lot by staying my favorite XM stations (6 total).
I previously shared with DUers the link to WAMU radio and 1A
Today I was hooked into listening to Fresh Air which is connected to NPR and WAMU in ways I don't quite understand. Nevertheless, It was one of the most informative broadcasts I have ever experienced about asbestos, Johnson & Johnson Baby Powder, FDA, the courts and our government.
If you are a history/political/capitalism buff you should not ignore listening to this program from beginning to end.
J&J recently lost a bid to settle lawsuits that claimed its talc powder products, including baby powder, caused cancer. Author Gardiner Harris (No More Tears) says the company's defense "is beginning to crumble." The eye-opener throughout the discussion was the actions or inactions by our government and the courts. Surprising players in this also on how this issue is also related to the drug problem in this country too.

(1,209 posts)Have KSER 90.7 on in background radio in garage 24/7. Their blues program isn't to be missed.
Inside the house it toggles between 90.7 and classical.
Gotta love my Advent speakers, they make all music sound great.

(26,026 posts)way too many radio stations, etc. The concentration of ownership has always been a concern of mine, that this was allowed. Local radio stations seem to be more informative in their coverage of local news, and also, add a personal touch to their coverage.
Of course, in my case, being that I'm profoundly hard of hearing, I pretty well tune out the noisy world, which is not too hard to me to do, considering the magnitude of my hearing loss. But as many of my friends tell me, I'm not missing much. Which, in my viewpoint, is a blessing. Sure, I miss a lot, but to be fair, there's a lot I don't miss, the partisanship, the BS, the ADs, the talking heads nonstop pushing their very biased agenda. It gets pretty old after a while. But that's okay, they wear out their welcomes pretty quickly and people get turned off pretty quickly.
The constant barrage of TV/audio electromatic waves bombarding us constantly w/ ADs, BS talk, talking heads constantly stressing their partisan points gets very old. A good example is Faux News/Fox News finally getting tired of tRUMP's and his thugs BS. I am curious as to what direction they'll turn now.
