NOTUS reported that tensions boiled over in a closed-door House GOP meeting on Tuesday, at which point MAGA Rep. Greg Steube of Florida exploded at House Speaker Mike Johnson; calling him a liar and telling him "I rebuke you in the name of Jesus!"The meeting was called in an attempt to get hold out members of Johnson's caucus on board with voting for the Senate approved budget proposal, which does not yet have enough GOP support to bring to the House floor. Hardliners have been pushing for more than the $4 billion in cuts offered in the Senate budget. Though Trump was able to change House Republican minds on the budget passed in February, GOP members are privately disclosing that this version feels dead in the water.
"This one feels different," an anonymous Republican told NOTUS. House Freedom Caucus chair Andy Harris even refused to attend a meeting with Trump at the White House, stating there was nothing Trump could do to change his mind.
During the closed-door meeting Tuesday, several Republicans pushed back on Speaker Johnson, who has said he intends to bring the Senate version to the floor this week. Members called on Johnson to bring the Senate version into conference committee where a compromise bill with steeper cuts could be developed. Johnson rejected the idea, stating it would take too much time.

(9,148 posts)to believe in invisible supernatural and magical beings like god/s and Jesus and angels and devils, etc. who control things on this one little planet amongst trillions and who were made up by goatherders who didn't know the Earth orbits the sun. The universe is 14 billion years old, but Jesus only came along a couple thousand years ago? And out of all the billions of life forms in the universe, the most important one is a recently evolved species of baldish great ape? How do people convince themselves that this shit is actually real, but stories about Thor or Zeus or Isis are not---see those are just mythologies! Their beliefs are not mythologies and totally make sense! Like Jesus is his own father and, BTW, there's also a ghost in the menage a trois. And Mary got raped by the cruel sky god, resulting in a virgin birth. I mean, what the actual fuck?!

(15,613 posts)Cast their ballots for Trump three times. In 2024, it was 63% of Protestants and 59% of Catholics, according to the exit polls. A lot of them will continue to support him no matter what he does, because they believe hes implementing Gods will for the US and the world.
Scary is right.
