(The Guardian) At "a Capitol Hill hearing held to explore supposed government censorship under Joe Biden"..."Nina Jankowicz, head of the American Sunlight Project, a pro-democracy organization, went on the offensive at a House of Representatives foreign relations subcommittee meeting held to examine the existence of an alleged 'censorship industrial complex', which Republicans claim was established to stifle rightwing views on social media, rather than combat foreign propaganda, as officially stated."

"Keith Self, a Republican representative from Texas, provoked anger among Democrats by appearing to liken the Biden administration’s anti-disinformation efforts to steps by the Nazi to construct public opinion in 1930s Germany...'A direct quote from Joseph Goebbels [the Nazi propaganda minister]: ‘It is the absolute right of the state to supervise the formation of public opinion,’ and I think that may be what we’re discussing here,' he said."

Self seems pretty familiar with Nazism, he's quoted Goebbels before:

'Judge Defends Using Nazi Quote in Campaign'

"A quote about truth by a Nazi propaganda minister is being cited by Collin County's top elected official, Judge Keith Self, as he seeks a second term."

"The Republican's mention of 'Let's Try Some Truth' leads off by quoting Joseph Goebbels, saying 'If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.'"

"John Muns, who is challenging Self in the March 2 Republican primary, said Monday that he is offended that the incumbent would invoke a Nazi official's comments."

"Self defended his use of the quote and told the Dallas Morning News that he did not intend to link Muns to Nazism, but said his opponent 'was using the method.'"

"While Self may not see anything wrong with his use of the quote, some, including prominent people in his party, believe he shouldn't have quoted the nazi to try to illustrate his point."

The sheer ugliness of Keith Self should disqualify from any political office. This is sheer lunacy for anyone to espouse Nazi quotes.

Democrat Sam Rayburn pushed through the Lend-Lease Act in March 1941 and he secured $1.6 billion to fund the Manhattan Project.

Texas used to elect anti-fascist leaders. Now Texas openly embraces and celebrates fascists.
