GOP has no cohesive measles message -- except to support RFK Jr.

Republican lawmakers are split on how seriously they should be taking the measles outbreak spreading across the country, but they’re in agreement that their message should include talking up the Trump administration’s response.

Led by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, the Trump administration has downplayed the escalating issue. At least one person has died and more than 480 people have been infected across 19 states, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Kennedy has drawn criticism in recent weeks for minimizing the severity of measles. He called the outbreak “not unusual,” despite the U.S. declaring in 2000 that the disease had been eliminated, and he’s also promoted less-effective treatments as alternatives to getting vaccinated ...

A person from Kent County who traveled internationally and to New Jersey had the measles and exposed others at Detroit Metropolitan Airport in Romulus and the Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids, along with a restaurant in Kentwood and a Corewell Health facility in East Grand Rapids, county health officials said.

It is the second case of measles reported in Michigan this year, amid a growing number of cases nationally.

As of March 28, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 483 confirmed U.S. cases of measles in the following states: Alaska, California, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York City, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee Texas, Vermont and Washington ...

but promoting things that have much more risk than getting vaccinated. Doctors are already seeing children with liver damage from being given too much Vitamin A.
