And he has an attribute that none of the republicans have: empathy.

(8,363 posts)He once ran into a burning building to save someone.
I understand Senator Chris Murphy is now backing him up? Good for him too.
wnylib
(25,223 posts)I heard him on tape saying that empathy destroys democracy because countries like the US bring in immigrants who are detrimental to the society and democratic system of government.
So, the next person that we deport should be Mr. Musk, the immigrant foreigner from South Africa

(1,435 posts)Booker ends his record speech in a mighty blaze!
Cory Booker's final words after 25 hours on the floor...
βI donβt know how to solve this, I donβt know how to stop us from going down this road,β Booker concluded. βBut I know who does have the power. The people of the United States of America. The power of the people is greater than the people in power.β
βLetβs get in good trouble,β Booker ended, referencing his mentor the late congressman John Lewis.

(62,696 posts)I would feel so emotional about this. I was applauding in my living room. I was having sympathy foot pain! I was in tears during parts of his speech, the letters he read or referenced, and when he sounded like he wasn't going to be able to go on.
He is so gracious, so strong, so smart. I appreciate what he has done.

(10,924 posts)Lawrence's last word of Cory in tears talking about fighting for our SS. I am a grown ass man, a veteran, always been a bit tough. But damn if my eyes did not tear up with pride and finally a sign of hope from his passion to promise to help us. Been a long time to have seen one of ours that passionate for us.
A damn good night, this is. Way past due. So needed.
