Trump names ‘first buddy’ and DOGE leader Elon Musk to investigate Signal blunder (The Independent)

Musk offered ‘his technical experts’ to help investigate how a journalist was added to a group chat with national security officials

Elon Musk and the team at the Department of Government Efficiency will assist the White House and National Security Council in investigating how a journalist was added to a Signal group chat with national security officials, the White House Press Secretary said Wednesday.

After the shocking news that the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic was added to a group with cabinet members about a U.S. military operation in Yemen, lawmakers and the public have called for investigations into how the incident occurred.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said those requests would be filled by the National Security Council, White House Counsel’s Office and Musk’s DOGE team.

Enough of this Elon Musk hocus-pocus. It's deflection to hide the crime and incompetence. If Musk wants to make himself useful he should audit every illicit device and communication channel being used by the Trump administration. There is a heapload of criminality right there.

I am not sure why the trumpies made this announcement and exactly what the Doge muskrats are going to do here. Why is Doge reviewing this matter? Does anyone care what Musk or his muskrats think on this issue ?

Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency team are reviewing how The Atlantic editor was added to a Signal group chat where plans for a U.S. military attack in Yemen were discussed, a senior White House official confirmed to ABC News.

In his interview with Fox News Tuesday night, National Security Adviser Mike Waltz alluded to Musk's involvement, saying, "I just talked to Elon on the way here -- we have the best technical minds looking at how this happened."

The White House official confirmed to ABC News that DOGE is involved and that the team is working with other teams to make communications "more secure and efficient."

Additionally, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Fox News Tuesday evening that "Elon Musk's team of experts is looking at this, and the National Security Council is all digging into this matter to ensure this could never happen again."
