Minnesota research unveils breakthrough sperm blocker

The drug, called YCT-529, was 99% effective within four weeks in preventing pregnancies in mice trials, according to the University of Minnesota. YCT-529 lowered sperm counts in male non-human primates within two weeks of starting the drug.

According to the University of Minnesota, all test subjects regained fertility weeks after stopping the drug.


Could be a game changer in birth control.

Women generally have a whole lot more focused and vested interest in not getting pregnant than men, so would worry that many men would not be diligent about the use of this. And if there are side effects and significant cost, even more so.
