'Trump to impose 25% tariff on all automobiles and foreign auto parts brought into the U.S.'

https://www.nbcnews.com/business/autos/trump-auto-tariffs-which-companies-how-much-when-what-to-know-rcna198223

'The tariffs were criticized by foreign governments and carmakers, drawing threats of retaliation and sinking auto stocks around the world.'

'...Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump initially said he was imposing a 25% tariff on all cars coming into the United States....

However, companies that import vehicles under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) will get special consideration until the Commerce Department establishes a process for levying the 25% duties, the White House said...

Trump said he expects auto companies to relocate to the United States and build new sites or expand existing ones. He hit out at companies that have opened facilities in Canada and Mexico in recent decades, at what he said was the expense of U.S. workers...

“If you build your car in the U.S., there’s no tariff,” he said...'

My words: Overall, I don't see how any of this is good for the American consumer even if some car models are produced in the U.S.

corporations won’t invest on this side of the border. Shareholders are going to have a fit anyway.

I don't know if he meant all models but with availability limited and tariffs rising, price will BOOM!!

Way to go Trumpie. Do you think some of that tariff money will be siphoned off by a DOGE side door?

It seems like the tariff announcement is just a distraction from the recent scandal. Get everybody talking about something else.

Tesla stock is up today. Pretty obvious that he is trying to help the real guy running the country (into the dust).

Geez I hate these people so much!
