It is a cruel and wicked thing to ship off people to a foreign country PRISON without due process. Paying a foreign government millions of dollars to hold people in a prison away from the custody of our country is vile and UnAmerican. Using OUR tax money to do it is beyond comprehension.
This has got to be illegal. It shows us that none of us are safe anymore. The Orange Asshole has got to be defeated. We have to unite together to get rid of this dictator and all his minions.

(52,197 posts)It did not happen overnight. Such people have always been with us and over the years, they've gradually accrued more and more power. Then in the 1990s Fox News and right-wing radio accelerated the process.

(38,308 posts)Immunity doesn't make an action not illegal, as has been repeatedly explained. It just gives the president (and the president alone) a get out of jail free. Unfortunately, under the current law, the solution for a president performing illegal acts is to remove him from office via impeachment. And, also unfortunately, that isn't going to happen with his cult-congress.
But - currently Trump also disavows any direct knowledge of (or responsibility for) the deportations. He claims Rubio handled it. Rubio is not the president, and does not have presidential immunity.

(4,021 posts)is going on right now for many years. People seem to forget that a while back Grover Norquist gave a speech where he placed a light bulb on republican heads, he said "The only thing the republican party needs is a monkey who can use a pen, he doesn't need to understand government, or come up with policies, all he has to do is be able to use the pen." I am paraphrasing.
First they found GW Bush, but he did know a little about government, and was a little bit protective of his legacy, and lets face it, he also had a little bit of patriotism in his heart, so that did not work as planned, close but not exactly...then they found, or maybe followed Putin's recommendation to use the perfect monkey, donald j trump. And we know he can use a sharpie, and he doesn't know what he signs, and he doesn't care, and he has no ideas so he cannot come up with policies, his thing is revenge from those who he deems have done him wrong for not accepting and applauding his multiple crimes, such as rape, fraud, insurrection, blackmailing, etc., etc., etc.
So...had trump not been around? they would have found another monkey, we all know the republican party is full of monkeys, so that would not have been a problem. And of course, they also have the four apartheid billionaires from South Africa, who in conjunction with Putin are doing all their thinking.
The most interesting thing about the republican monkeys is that they all want to be in government, even though they say they "hate" government, they all want to have an official title, they all want to be part of history, they don't know why, all they know is they want to be there, so like lemmings, they do what they are told. What a pathetic and sad political party, what a pathetic and sad electorate who vote for them.

(1,831 posts)Per the Oxford dictionary
noun: feudalism
the dominant social system in medieval Europe, in which the nobility held lands from the Crown in exchange for military service, and vassals were in turn tenants of the nobles, while the peasants (villeins or serfs) were obliged to live on their lord's land and give him homage, labor, and a share of the produce, notionally in exchange for military protection.
All hail King Trump while his nobles and knights divide up our National Parks, water, oil, natural gas and whatever else they want.
How does peasant/serf sound to you?
No wonder he loves Camelot! 🙄

(4,021 posts)from the Venezuelan gang called "El Tren de Aragua". These people are real criminals, they kill, and killed in the USA after raping a young woman, theu robbed, and not siure how many more murders they committed; they have no brain for anything else but hardcore crime, so they should have been prosecuted in the USA and when found guilty placed in jail for the rest of their lives or be sentenced to death but... and here is the BIGGIE, my conspiracy theory, and I am going to explain why I came up with it.
1. When some of these "Tren de Aragua" criminals arrived to Venezuela, Diosdado Cabello, who is one of the biggest criminals of the regime, greeted them like heroes.
2. According to the USA government, trump and Marco Rubio sent an envoy to Venezuela to talk, not negotiate, to Maduro, the envoy was just going to give Maduro the orders from the dear leader trump. To begin, the envoy only got back with six of the twelve prisoners Maduro was holding, Maduro kept him waiting inside the airplane for hours. The envoy had supposedly been "forceful" demanding that Maduro receive the "Tren de Aragua" thugs back, ALL OF THEM. And the trip was so successful "because Maduro agreed to all the terms".
3. But then little Marco Rubio flew, almost immediately, to El Salvador to make a deal with the president of that country who agreed to receive the "Tren de Aragua" criminals in exchange for a bunch of USA tax payers money, and more concessions of which we don't know anything about, who knows what the USA thugs gave the president of El Salvador just to try to make trump look good.
We don't know if the 238 people deported to El Salvador were part of the criminals from the "Tren de Aragua", many sources claim these people were innocent Venezuelans that ICE had picked up for deportation and are now jailed in El Salvador.
THE CONSPIRACY THEORY:
Most of you will remember Iran and the 50 hostages before the elections, and having Reagan won, the hostages were released the next day...Very convenient.
I believe that the arrival of the "Tren de Aragua" in the USA was orchestrated by the trump campaign and Maduro. Lets not forget that trump admires Maduro, and Maduro needs the USA to stay in power, which he has managed to do so far although it was proven that he lost the Venezuelan elections. So...trump needed chaos from "migrants" to be able to throw crap at Democrats, and thus the "Tren de Aragua" accomplished its goal. Now they are back in Venezuela and who knows what crimes they are committing there because they were not incarcerated, none at all.

(19,056 posts)Trump says any country buying Venezuelan oil will face a 25% tariff
I mean in light of what you say:
I'm not meaning to challenge you, just that those two things together don't make sense to me.
But to be clear, I am very much NOT up on what is going on with Venezuela, and the Orange Felon is causing more chaos here than I am able to keep up with.
Escurumbele
(4,021 posts)Maduro doesn't need any more money, he and his thugs are billionaires, they have so much money and they cannot do much with it because they can't fly out of Venezuela, so 25% tariffs for them means nothing, they don't care.
Maduro just wants to stay in power, to continue to live like a king.
Another thing, any country buying oil directly from Venezuela is none of trump's business, Maduro will not place tariffs on anyone, so trump is just opening his mouth not knowing what he is saying, I am sure there is no surprise in that. trump seems to have learned the word "tariffs" and can't stop saying it, he really doesn't understand them.
I hope I have answered your question, although is not more than my opinion.
RandomNumbers
(19,056 posts)If Trump said it and it doesn't make sense, well that's just another day in modern America.
But I understood it as a threat against countries that buy Venezuelan oil, that if they continue they will be punished by tariffs on their goods sold in America.
That said, your point about it not mattering to Maduro, does make sense.

(4,021 posts)I don't pay too much attention to trump, his only goal is revenge on people who did the right thing prosecuting him because he committed crimes, but when he wants to talk about politics or government, I don't pay too much attention because he really doesn't know what he is talking about, he is just repeating something someone told him to say. We have to pay attention at the people who are mostly quiet, the ones behind the curtain, those are the ones planning the damage.
Its obvious how when he signs anything, he can't explain what he signed, he just goes with one of his usual lines "it was a disaster, this is going to fix it" but he cannot talk about the details. Then a few weeks or months later he can't remember he signed it, he criticizes it not knowing it was his "administration". I put the word "administration" in quotes because of a quote on an article in Harper's magazine by a guy with a last name of McGregor, he said (paraphrasing), "There was a trump presidency, but there was no trump administration.". Its a huge mess, just like now.
My worry, and I have said this before, is that I don't see any resistance from the military, dictators need the military to rule, without them dictators go to jail, have to leave the country or get killed, they need the military, so I am hoping the military is staying quiet but when it counts that they will live up to their promise to defend the country against foreign and domestic enemies, most of them must know trump is a domestic enemy.

Each alone in a soundproof cell, 23.5 hours a day. Meals shoved through the door. No internet, no phone, no communication with the outside world what-so-ever, or any other prisoner. Destined to rot the rest of their lives away until they die.
Super Max was designed to remove the worst of the worst from society......forever.
A cement bed, cement desk, cement stool, a stainless steel toilet. Prisoner is responsible for cleaning their own cell..
A tiny window, that only looks up at the sky, with no view of the landscape. A prison that is escape proof........
The Oklahoma City Bomber, Tim McVeigh, was sent there. After six months he begged for the Death Penalty, saying Super Max is far worse than death.......The Judge accommodated his wishes....... Other prisoners do not have that option, and rot in their cells.
