Let the Games Begin... And the Carnage
by Jaime O’Neill | January 12, 2025 - 6:30am

snip//

But Trump, liar that he is, has upped his game. He lied again, even more extravagantly when he said he knew nothing about Project 2025, or when he said he would bring down prices at the grocery store or at the gas pumps pretty damn quick. He didn't try very hard to appear convincing, however. He'd learned that enough people didn't care whether he was lying or not. Repetition of the lies was useful, but selling the lies just wasn't worth the trouble. Truth just didn't matter to enough people to matter very much at all.

Still, compulsive liars lie compulsively. They are rarely conversant with reality. And so, in a few weeks, we will hear another inaugural speech from this man who has visited so much chaos and confusion on this suffering nation. We will be told what a sorry state the country is in, as we were told after the black guy left office, though it's much worse now. We will hear about deporting millions upon millions of Mexicans. We will hear saber rattling. And there will be blood that comes from that as our most unstable people have an array of new enemies pointed out to them. Greenlanders and Danes, for instance. And here at home there are unpatriotic men and women, lawyers, and prosecutors, and judges who must be locked away, or eliminated. There will be explosions, and there will mass shootings starting up where they had left off. And should an epidemic or a pandemic strike again, as it almost surely likely, we will once again be in the reckless and feckless hands of the man who oversaw so many hundreds of thousands of unnecessary deaths the last time he was in charge.

It will be a fun house where hardly anyone but the wealthy will be having much fun. And if you aren't scared now, you will be. We're facing the kind of unstable leadership that has, historically, led to every imaginable kind of woe and trouble. Economies quake, wars are engendered, goods and services fluctuate in price wildly. Musk told the truth when he said there would be suffering, and that we should believe. There will be suffering, but not for the people who will be profiting most from it.

The same monotonous lies will be repeated. New ones will be added. The lesson to Americans will be that the enemies are within and without, and they're everywhere. We must fight, fight, fight them to the tooth and to the nail or we won't have a country anymore. It's madness, and it's ours. We have politicians without honor or integrity, we've got throngs of rich people chomping at the bit to get richer. It's a perfect storm. And try as we might, most everyone knows how bad it is and how bad it will get. But power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. The election taught us all just how absolute that power has become.

The convicted felon will be taking office soon, blaming everyone but himself for anything and everything, sans facts, sans truth, and without an iota of responsibility for what might come from his reckless and ruthless lies.

And it's going to cost us more than we can imagine. One truth he did tell was that we really won't have much of a country anymore.

Do I exaggerate? We can only hope so.

That's one way to get your dictator hat. Let's hope those things don't happen, or we could skip elections.

A spot on commentary. I know I'm very nervous about what's coming. Trying not to get to downhead even though I tend that way, but humanity as a collective is on a bad trajectory.

As the piece accurately states, there will be nothing but lies in that speech. So I won't be listening. I will be doing something else that day. I won't watch and I won't listen. There is nothing to be gained from either.

And in the future, I'll watch the news for things he DOES. I'll ignore what he says.

It's inauguration day and felon47 gets up to speak. Out of his ugly mouth comes lie after lie claiming that the outgoing administration ruined the economy. They allowed crime to go way up. They allowed illegal migrants to take over neighborhoods and steal our jobs.
Slowly, Joe and Jill stand up, turn, and walk out. Slowly, Barack and Michelle stand and follow the Bidens. The Clinton's stand and leave followed by the Bushes.

Great dream.

And has it magically become the new accepted narrative... Donnie is the literal embodiment of "I REJECT YOUR SCIENCE AND FACT-BASED REALITY AND INSERT MY OWN! AND I DON'T EVEN HAVE TO SHOW ANY EVIDENCE OR PROOF; ALL I EVER NEED TO DO IS SAY IT LOUD AND OFTEN AND IT BECOMES TRUE!"

It also hasn't escaped my notice that all those white folks in the flyover states aren't complaining anymore about not affording bacon and cereal or whatever for breakfast... Funny how that works.

Sun Jan 12, 2025, 01:10 PM

But right now despair is winning. A long disabling illness and endless medical bills devastated my finances. I now get by on a small social security payment plus a housing voucher and Medicaid/Medicare. The orange horriblus and his pet boy Musk can't wait to get rid of these programs and enact tax cuts for all those deserving billionaires. This will have a horrific impact on millions of low-income and working class Americans. The second term of the tangerine cry baby will amount to a death sentence for many of us.

I have to disagree with that. Joe Biden has left the country in much better shape than he found it, economically better than other advanced industrial nations.

Of course there are problems, the most immediate being the ascension to power of a demented narcissist with his coterie of nutjobs and grifting billionaires.
