I'm guessing all undocumented immigrants convicted of a felony or misdemeanor and all who arrived during Biden's term (estimated 6+ million - deportations so far). That will put a cap on the numbers.
This would allow them to pitch it as cleaning up Biden's mess, while providing some relief to those who have been here longer.
What about those who arrived in the first term, 2017 - 2020? All in good time my little pretty, all in good time.

(3,672 posts)As far as I have read, there is no system capability for hauling off, processing and housing a large number of people quickly. Plus doubtful that all people who may be targets will just hang out and wait to get picked up. So there may also be more than a few chases involved. And come harvest season in TX, NM, AZ, CA, FL, GA, OR, WA, etc. when there aren't enough workers available, will Barron Trump or other able bodied white guys be there to help? Unlikely.

(51,706 posts)We shall see. You might be right. If they do just felonies and misdemeanors, then it might more show than substance.
There might be other kinds of lots of show like hundreds of thousands thrown into concentration camps as shown in Handmaid's Tale, all to the immense profit of Money Bros.
I don't think there will be a lot of quick deportations. The whole thing will swell up with various forms of incompetence from within the regime and resistance from outside.
Regardless, the disruption will be "yuge".

(2,619 posts)You really think they are going to take the time and effort required to identify just those convicted of a crime? They're going to go after anyone who "looks" like an "illegal" and at the very least detain them in camps or whatever for significant lengths of time.

(10,844 posts)Would not take much time or effort. Relatively easy to show you were in the country prior to 2021.

(2,619 posts)Like I said, they will just start apprehending anyone and everyone who "looks" illegal and throw them into camps. Mark my words.

It is not 6 million. At least 2 million have been removed or returned. It's doable.

(2,645 posts)...but where I live - in the PNW - the labor crews are mostly more recent...a lot more recent. And nobody asks about status...$900K-$1mil houses going up and selling like hotcakes.
Word of mouth says a lot of labor is going back South - and I don't mean LA - for the winter, until this first wave of deportations is over.

(10,844 posts)... so there isn't wage discrimination against undocumented immigrants? Ot is it assumed that everyone is undocumented?
