I don't watch it. More often than not Miedas Touch functions as a disinformation network these days, at least so far as its titles go. The carpet does not match the drapes.

(38,413 posts)And exaggerated faces. This is what draws attention and gets clicks.
I dont like it either, but try being a copywriter and doing something less in your face.

We should give this sort of shite a free pass because Miedas Touch supports Democrats?

(117,898 posts)While I prefer for video titles not to use clickbait within the titles, I'm willing to give a video a few minutes to make the point.
While YouTube cannot force content creators to use clickbait in their titles and thumbnails, what they can do is factor those elements into their algorithms to determine whether they recommend that content to other people online. Thus, if a content creator wants their message to be seen and heard then they have to play by YouTube's rules. Otherwise, the creator might as well forget about monetizing that content on YouTube.
I feel like I'm rolling the dice when selecting videos from the Liberal YouTubers Group which is why it helps to include the media source in the thread title so that other DUers can quickly decide whether to view the content.

Why should I give a New York minute to shite like that?

(102,740 posts)The yellow caps and OTT title were specifically chosen to imply a style - one in which exaggeration plays a big part, and one in which they take time to get to their point (so that you see a few more ads). Those few minutes could be spent reading a real article, rather than waiting for a 2024-style video to actually say something (which will probably be in a rather amateur fashion, in the end).

(51,706 posts)You, Thank You!, you post summaries of the video, sometimes excerpts of the transcripts, so that we can have a good idea of what is discussed and what the point is. That is different from most DU video posts.
Most videos posted on DU have no summary or only say "A and B discuss issue M". You could figure that out by looking at the cover picture, but that is all you can figure out. So you HAVE to judge the video by its cover before you invest time in it.
Multiply a few minutes by a couple dozen videos and you are flat out of time for anything else. I can read a couple dozen OPs in the time of one of those rambling videos and get a lot more information.
Videos are great for illustrating woodworking projects or for letting hosts ramble and bloviate.

(23,453 posts)Im having to get over my knee-jerk reaction to ignore the almost tabloid-esque way headlines are written and presented online now. I definitely noticed MTN doing that but it seems everyone is doing it (even here) in an attempt to be seen amidst the chaos. As a lifelong news junkie, Im turning away from it all more and more. The whole space feels like a balloon about to burst.
